Bonnie Rypma, age 79, died Friday, January 13, 2023, at the Robert J Dole VA Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas.
She was born on April 23, 1943, in Hollywood, California, the daughter of William “Bill” and Sally (Wright) Lillard. Bonnie attended school in Santa Barbara, California and graduated from Santa Barbara High School.
After graduation Bonnie Joined the United States Air Force. During her enlistment she was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base and at Barksdale Air Force Base. While assigned to the Barksdale Air Base she met Roy Rypma, and they were married on December 1, 1963, in Santa Barbara, California. They were married for 59 years, they were blessed with two daughters, Melissa, and Michelle.
Bonnie and Roy, after discharge from the Air Force, found jobs when visiting Liberal, Kansas so they made this there home and raised a family. Bonnie was employed at the Post Office, Ideal Foods, Beach Aircraft and WestKan Oil Company.
She enjoyed camping, gardening, and Quilting. Bonnie spent time in Bible Study. She was most happy spending time with her beloved family.
Her memberships include The First Baptist Church, The American Legion Post 80 and the Needles and Friends Quilt Guild, all in Liberal.
She is survived by:
Husband Roy Rypma,
Daughters Melissa Woodie and her husband Stuart of Eureka, Kansas and Michelle Rypma of Wichita, Kansas.
Sister Sue Moorwood and her husband Richard of Wichita, Kansas
Grandchildren Seth Woodie and his wife Amber , Caroline Woodie, Marshall Woodie, & Emma Woodie
Great-grandchildren belonging to Seth - Silas Woodie, Joanna Woodie
Preceded in death by:
Parents Bill & Sally Lillard, Santa Barbara, CA
A memorial service will be Saturday, January 28, 2023, at 10:00 am at the CrossPoint Church, 2nd and Sherman, Liberal Kansas. Pastor Jonathan Zamora will officiate the service.
