Bruce Albert Turner, age 53 died February 22, 2012 at Kismet, KS.He was born November 28, 1958 at Denver, CO, the son of John Henry and Margie Ann (Drake) Turner. He graduated from Jefferson County High School in Denver, CO and later graduated from Seward County Community College, Liberal, KS.Bruce had a long career in the U. S. Navy as a Chief Electricians Mate qualified in submarines. He served his country in the Persian Gulf War. He had received a Navy Commendation Award among other numerous awards and had performed 4 strategic deterrent patrols. He retired after 21 years of faithful service and settled in Plains, Kansas. He worked for the United States Postal Service and was the current Post Master at Kismet.He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Masonic Fargo Lodge #300, the Order of Eastern Star #104, VFW Lane Day Post No. 3166 and the Plains American Legion. He was also a member of the United States Submarine Veterans, Inc (USSVI) Dorado Base.On July 23, 1983, he married Denise Margaret Schell at Sacramento, CA. She survives.Other survivors includeMother – Margie Laird and husband Leonard of Wheat Ridge, CO2 Sons – Brandon Skott Turner of Silverdale, WA Kyle Jakob Turner and wife Yonlada of Kansas City, MO2 Daughters – Kristy Amber Krull and husband Anthony of Plains, KS Melissa Ann Taylor and husband Tim of Ellsworth, KS5 Brothers – Nolan, John, Doyle, Loren and Jeremy Turner all of Denver, CO2 Sisters – Lou Ann Lupo and Janine Northrope of Denver, CO4 Grandchildren- Austin Reid Turner, Alexander Michael Krull, Javon Allen Rice and Abigail Nichole TaylorHe was preceded in death by his Father – John H. Turner and Mother-in-law Winifred Schell.Memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Plains United Methodist Church with Pastor Stephen B. Saville presiding. Cremation has taken place and his cremains will be buried at sea at a later date. A guest register will be available to sign from 9 am – 5pm Friday at Brenneman Funeral Home, Liberal.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church at 1124 W. 2nd St., Liberal, KS 67901, St. Mary’s Submarine Museum at 102 Saint Mary’s Street, St. Mary’s, GA 31558 or a love donation to the family.
