Carlos C. De Leon

Carlos C. De Leon, 79, passed Sunday, March 22, 2026 at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, Kansas.

Carlos was born on July 13, 1946, in Guatemala City, Guatemala the son of Cristobal and Maria De Leon.

He married Maria T. Ortiz in 1963 in Guatemala City, Guatemala. She preceded him in death on January 26, 2014. He then remarried to Nolvia Salgado. She survives.

Carlos was a loving father. He very much enjoyed music, dancing and traveling, especially to the beach. He loved reading and watching action movies. He was very sociable with anyone he met. He was also a home handy man, able to make repairs of very high quality. He was devoted to going to church and reading the Bible.

He worked for many years as a sales clerk at Wal-Mart.

Carlos is survived by his son, Hector De Leon and his wife, Norma of Olathe, Kansas

His daughters,

Claudia De Leon and her husband Orlando Licon of Liberal, Kansas

Karla De Leon of Liberal, Kansas

Grandchildren Deidre and Christian Ubeda, Shawn, Christian, Carlos and Hector De Leon II, Erik and Kevin Loya.

8 Great Grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Cristobal De Leon and Maria Carranza, his wife Maria De Leon, daughters Lorena and Maria E De Leon.

Visitation will be on Thursday, March 26, 2026 from 10am to 7pm at the Hornung Family Funeral Home, 1212 W 2nd St., Liberal, Kansas.

Funeral Services will be at 10am Friday, March 27, 2026 at the IDPMI Church, 419 W 1st Street, Liberal, Kansas. Pastor Hipolito Castaneda will be presiding.
