Carol Jean Benedick

Carol Jean Benedick passed away peacefully in her home on August 19th, 2024.

She was born in Denver Colorado on October 8th, 1940, as Carol Jean Coble to her parents Margaret and Frederick Coble. She had two brothers, Freddie and Lester R., and one sister, Sandra. Growing up she attended school until the 8th grade but ultimately ended up becoming a homemaker and helping provide for her family. She married her first husband Kenneth Ingels on July 3rd, 1957, and had three children, Robert E. Ingels, Sherry J. Neifert (Ingels), and Susan C. Leatherman (Ingels), but they later divorced in May of 1985. She then married her second husband Larry Benedick in June of 1986. 

Carol is preceded in death by her brother Freddie, her mother Margaret, her father Frederick, her brother Lester R., her daughter Susan Leatherman, her ex-husband Kenneth, and her husband Larry. 

She is survived by her children Robert Ingels of McCook, Nebraska, and Sherry Neifert of Lawton, Oklahoma, her grandchildren Jason Ingles of McCook Nebraska, Michelle Mitchem of McCook Nebraska, Karrie Riddles of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Shannon Neifert of Lawton, Oklahoma, Faith Coultas of Medicine Lodge, Kansas, and numerous great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Visitation will be 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM, Sunday, August 25, 2024, at the Hornung Family Funeral Home, 1212 W 2nd Street, Liberal, Kansas.

Graveside Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM, Monday, August 26, 2024, at Liberal Cemetery, 1900 W. 15th Street, Liberal, Kansas with Pastor Rex Petty presiding.
