Delia Avalos, age 57, died on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Kansas Medical Center in Andover, Kansas.
She was born on February 26, 1969, in Durango, Mexico, to Jose and Elizabeth (Andrade) Bustillos.
Delia worked for the Flora Food Group, where she was known for her dedication and steady spirit. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose love for her family was evident in all she did. Delia enjoyed dancing sharing moments with those she loved. She held a special place in the community, offering warmth, kindness, and care to those around her. Delia was a comforting presence and a motherly figure. She was an amazing matriarch that was the glue that held her family together. Deeply cherished by her family and friends, Delia will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed.
She is survived by her husband, Juan Carlos Reyes,
two sons, Cornelio Avalos Jr. and his wife, Lupita of Liberal, Kansas, and
Jimmy Avalos and his wife, Lexi of Williston, North Dakota,
Two daughters, Vanessa Avalos and her husband, Alexander of Liberal, Kansas, and
Elizabeth Soltero and her husband, Oscar of Santa Barbara, Chihuahua, Mexico,
Three brothers, Jose Alfredo Bustillos of Liberal, Kansas,
Ivan Bustillos of Mexico, and
Tony Bustillos of Mexico,
Three sisters, Maria Bustillas of Liberal, Kansas,
Lili Bustillos of Mexico, and
Mona Bustillos of Minnesota,
10 grandchildren, Kenia Delgado, Sergio Soltero, Briana Avalos, Edwin Soltero, Anthony Avalos, Diego Avalos, Brissa Cataleya Avalos, Jesus Alan Avalos, Jr., Niyah Avalos, Enzo Avalos, and three great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Elizabeth Bustillos, and
Sister, Mayela Bustillos.
Visitation will be from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at the Hornung Family Funeral Home Chapel, 1212 W 2nd Street, Liberal, Kansas.
A Rosary will follow at 7:00 PM, Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1510 N. Calhoun, Liberal, Kansas.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Thursday, August 20, 2026, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1510 N. Calhoun, Liberal, Kansas. Reverend Esteban Hernandez-Mejia will be celebrant.
An inurnment will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Liberal Cemetery.
