Gloria Lea Dixon, 87, died, February 5, 2013 at her home in Harrisonville, Missouri. She was born June 15, 1925 in Liberal, Kansas the daughter of Lee Harvey and Bernice Amanda (Antrim) Hickey. She graduated from Liberal High School and attended a Beauty College in Amarillo, Texas. She owned and operated a beauty shop in her home for several years. She was also employed at Beech Aircraft, Seward County Road and Bridge and finished her working years at the age of 83 at the Senior Center in Liberal, Kansas. On June 26, 1943, she married Alvin J. “Doc” Dixon in Louisville, Kentucky. He preceded her in death.She is survived by two daughters, Dixie Rice, Clinton, Oklahoma, Lynae Anderson and husband Dan, Harrisonville, Missouri; a sister, Dorothy McGehee; other relatives and friends. 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildrenShe is preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Shirley Carlile; a great-grandson, Matthew Thomas and a brother, Dude Hickey.Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jack Jacob presiding. Burial will be held in Liberal Cemetery. Visitation time will be 6 – 8pm Friday and 9am until service time Saturday at Brenneman Funeral Home.Memorial Contributions can be sent to Crossroads Hospice in care of Brenneman Funeral Home 1212 W. 2nd Liberal, KS 67901
