After an amazing and full life, Jean Louise Regier, age 90, died on Monday, December 29, 2025, in Liberal, Kansas.
Jean was born on August 20, 1935, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to Earl Eugene and Maxine Aurora (Pitcher) Basham. She graduated from Toledo Iowa public school in 1953. The following year on July 18, 1954, Jean married Vernon H. Regier at the First Methodist Church in Toledo, Iowa.
Jean led a busy and fulfilling life, balancing her roles as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother with her professional endeavors. She worked 18 years in the bakery at Walmart Supercenter and served for 23 years as a cashier at Conoco. Additionally, Jean spent 45 years as a sales representative for Avon. Jean was an active member of the Calvary Mennonite Church, where she contributed as a Sunday School teacher, treasurer, and secretary. She was also a valued member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was recently presented with her 50-year recognition award.
She is survived by her two daughters, Laura Lynn Zimmerman and husband, David L. of Pleasanton, Texas, and
Brenda Sue Regier of Liberal, Kansas,
Four grandchildren, Loretta Hill and husband, Baron,
Dave Zimerman and his wife, Teri,
Erica Engelman and her husband, Nathan,
Adam Regier and his wife, Julia,
Nine great grandchildren, Kali Nichelle Hall and spouse, Chanesse,
Terrell King (TJ),
MacKenzie Zimmerman,
Brylee Zimmerman,
Cherish Montoya and her husband, Jonathan,
Corbin Engelman,
Cherie Engelman,
Charity Engelman,
Coby Engleman,
Two great great grandchildren, Samuel Montoya, and
Malachi Montoya,
One sister, Martha Sue Crabbs of Pagosa Springs, Colorado.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Vernon H. Regier,
parents, Earl and Maxine Basham,
brother, John Earl Basham,
sister, Darlene Ann Freerksen, and
granddaughter, Lourissa Michelle Zimmerman
Visitation will be 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Friday, January 2,2026 at the Hornung Family Funeral Home, 1212 W 2nd Street, Liberal, Kansas. The family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Calvary Mennonite Church, 831 S. New York, Liberal, Kansas. Nathan Engelman will be officiating.
Interment will follow at Liberal Cemetery.
