JoAnn “Jody” B. Hibbert, age 91, died on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at The Shepherd Center in Cimarron, Kansas.
She was born on September 27, 1934, in Alva, Oklahoma, to Gaylord E. and Dorothy B. Shoffner Walker.
Jody completed 13 years of schooling and worked as a sales representative in mobile home sales. She married Neil J. Hibbert on December 15, 1951, in Guthrie, Oklahoma; he passed away on December 4, 2015, after nearly sixty-four years together. Jody was a Eastern Star Chapter #104 member and earned recognition with the Liberal Redskins Booster Club as a Member of the Year. Jody lived a remarkable life. The Wall Street Journal featured her with her large collection of Beenie Babies. Jody once funded a Colorado trip through winnings from the Colorado lottery. She excelled at bowling and won numerous ceramics awards. Jody and Neil were dedicated KC Chiefs fans. Jody cherished time spent with her 9 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered by all those fortunate enough to know her.
She is survived by her two sons, John A. Hibbert of Cimarron, Kansas and
Joe Hibbert and his wife, Shelly of Cimarron, Kansas,
One Daughter. Gay L. Andrade of Salina, Kansas
Nine Grandchildren Alex, Zach, Nick, Katy Burgess and Chris Hibbert, Candice Behrns, Neil Andrade, Marcus Andrade and Lucy Murzyn and 23 Great-Grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Gaylord E. and Dorothy B. Walker,
husband, Neil Hibbert, and grandson, Nicholas Hibbert.
Visitation will be 12:00 PM – 7:00
PM, Monday, March 30, 2026, at the Hornung Family Funeral Home, 1212 W 2nd Street, Liberal, Kansas.
Funeral Services will be at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at the Hornung Family Funeral Home Chapel.
For those unable to attend in person, the service will be streamed live on our Hornung Family Funeral Home Facebook page.
A burial will follow at the Liberal Cemetery.
