Jose Rodriguez

Jose Rodriguez, age 67, died on Monday, August 24, 2026, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas.

He was born on February 24, 1959, in San Francisco de Conchos, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Jesus Rodriguez and Joaquina P. de Rodriguez.

Jose shared a loving marriage with Maria Elena Rodriguez and was a devoted father to their six children. For 35 years, he worked faithfully at National Beef Processing, where his dedication and strong work ethic were deeply valued. Above all, Jose will be remembered as a caring father and grandfather whose love, kindness, and presence brought comfort and joy to his family.

He is survived by his wife, Maria Elena Rodriguez,

Mother-in-law, Agueda Zubiate de Torres,

Three sons, Eddel Josue Rodriguez and his wife, Susie Rodriguez, and

Their two children, Jesus Eddel Rodriguez, and Faith Lynn Rodriguez,

Jonathan Ontiveros, and Jose Antonio Rodriguez,

Three daughters, Anna Lizeth Rodriguez, and her daughter, Hayden Grace Stegman,

Noemi Ibarra and her husband, Jesus Ibarra, and their two children, Alaina Rose Ibarra, Nalani Skye Ibarra,

Lizbeth Smollock and her husband, Brett Smollock and

Their two children, Kayden Elijah Florence and Addalyn Fae Smollock,

Two brothers, Jesus M. Rodriguez and Francisco Rodriguez,

Three sisters, Celia Amparan, Hilda S. Rodriguez, and Magda G. Nunez.

He is preceded in death by parents, Jesus and Joaquina Rodriguez,

Father-in-law, Rafael Torres Martinez, and

Grandchildren, Leonard and Santiago Rodriguez, and

Elena Isabel Smollock.

Visitation will be from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday, August 31, 2026, at the Hornung Family Funeral Home Chapel, 1212 W 2nd Street, Liberal, Kansas.

Rosary to follow at 7:00 PM, Monday, August, August 31, 2026, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1510 N. Calhoun, Liberal, Kansas.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1510 N. Calhoun, Liberal, Kansas.

A burial will follow at Liberal Cemetery.

José compartió un matrimonio lleno de amor con María Elena Rodríguez y fue un padre dedicado para sus seis hijos. Durante 35 años trabajó fielmente en National Beef Processing, donde su dedicación y gran ética laboral fueron profundamente valoradas. Ante todo, José será recordado como un padre y abuelo cariñoso, cuyo amor, bondad y presencia brindaron consuelo y alegría a su familia.

El velatorio se llevará a cabo el lunes 31 de agosto de 2026, de 9:00 a. m. a 5:00 p. m., en la capilla de la funeraria Hornung Family Funeral Home, ubicada en 1212 W 2nd Street, Liberal, Kansas. El rezo del Rosario tendrá lugar a las 7:00 p. m. del lunes 31 de agosto de 2026 en la Iglesia Católica San Antonio de Padua, ubicada en 1510 N. Calhoun, Liberal, Kansas.

La Misa de funeral se celebrará a las 10:00 a. m. del martes 1 de septiembre de 2026 en la Iglesia Católica San Antonio de Padua, ubicada en 1510 N. Calhoun, Liberal, Kansas.
