Juan Alvarado-Rodriguez

Juan Alvarado-Rodriguez, age 89, died Monday, June 12, 2023, at Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo, Texas.

He was born on June 16, 1933, to Jose Alvarado and Espedita Rodriguez in San Juan Capistrano, Mexico. 

Juan was married to Antonia Santoyo and was the father of four sons and four daughters. He worked in agriculture as a crop farmer. Juan cared for livestock and enjoyed riding horses. He will always be remembered as a friendly gentleman, making friends wherever he went and was very hospitable to his friends and family. Juan was the Godfather to many children. One of his favorite things to do was to go shopping with his grandchildren. He spent a good deal of time traveling to Mexico, Kansas, and Texas to be with his friends and an ever growing family. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Two son, Samuel Alvardo (Rebeca) of Liberal, Kansas,

Humberto Alvarado (Gabriela) of Zacatecas, Mexico,

Four daughters, Martina Alvarado of California, Erlinda Alvardo of Round Rock, Texas, Graciela Alvarado (Jose Luis Aguilar) of Liberal, Kansas, and Clemencia Alvarado (Isauro Esqueda) of Seattle, Washington, one daughter-in-law, Laura Alvarado of Hutto, Texas,

One sister, Equilia Alvarado Rodriguez of Washington, 23 grandchildren, and 26 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by both parents, Jose Alvarado and Espedita Rodriguez, two sons, Enrique Alvarado, and Raul Alvarado, and one brother, Pedro Alvarado Rodriguez.

Visitation will be on 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday, June 19, 2023, at the Hornung Family Funeral Home, 1212 W 2^nd Street, Liberal, Kansas.

Rosary will follow at 7:00 PM, Monday, June 19, 2023, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1510 N. Calhoun, Liberal, Kansas.

Funeral Mass will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1510 N. Calhoun, Liberal, Kansas. The Reverend  Augustine Owusu will celebrate the Mass.

A burial will follow at Liberal Cemetery.
