Larry Gus Benedick, 81, died Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Duncan Regional Hospital, Duncan, OK. He was born January 10, 1932 in Stockton, KS, the son of Virl Sheridan and Leta Adel (Merrill) Benedick. He attended Stockton schools. In 1950, he married Betty Kirkhart. They had three children together and were later divorced. On December 26, 1985, he married Carol Jean (Coble) Ingels in Karnack, TX. Larry was a self-employed Oil Field Consultant and was well known throughout Kansas, Oklahoma and Wyoming. He lived several years in Hays, KS, Gillette, WY, Liberal, KS and most recently, living in Duncan, OK. He was a former member of the Paradise Masonic Lodge #290 in Plainville, KS and the Elks Lodge in Liberal, KS.He is survived by his wife, Carol of Duncan, OK, his son, Ken Benedick and wife Charlie of Bristol, VA; two daughters, Vickie Schmidt of Gillette, WY and Nicki Toth and husband Tim of Upton, WY; step-children, Sherry Niefert of Duncan, OK, and Robert Ingels of McCook, NE.Other survivors include three brothers, Clayton Benedick of Syracuse, NY; George Benedick of Decatur, TX; and Alan Benedick of Garden City, KS and a sister, Judy Nuss of Plainville, KS. 13 Grandchildren: Jory Schmidt, Staci Slocum, Shauna Oleson, Amy Uhrich, Matt Benedick, Erik Toth, Logan Toth, Maci Williams, Faith Christine Leatherman, Karrie Neifert, Shannon Culverson, Jason Ingels and Michelle Ingels.19 Great -GrandchildrenPreceded in death by his parents, a step-daughter, Susan Leatherman, son-in-law, Tom Schmidt and sisters - Donavene Krob, Bethel Krob and Joyce Cotten. Memorial Service will be 10:30 am Saturday, February 23rd at New Hope Baptist Church in Duncan with Pastor Randy Southerland officiating. Funeral services were 2:00 pm Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013 at Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel in Liberal, KS with Pastor Andrew Wehling presiding. Burial followed at Liberal Cemetery. Memorial contributions for Faith’s education fund c/o Carol Benedick may be sent in care of Brenneman Funeral Home, 1212 W. 2nd, Liberal, KS 67901.
