Larry G. Black, 75, died Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at the Liberal Good Samaritan Society.

 

He was born May 2, 1947 in Amarillo, Texas, the son of Gene and Mary Frances (Embrey) Black. 

 

Larry attended the Roswell Military Institute and Liberal High School.  After graduation, he attended Ft. Hays State for several years.  

 

Larry married Bertha Maria “Tita” Campuzano on September 1, 1973 in Zacatecas, Mexico.  She preceded him in death on February 4, 2017. 

 

Larry was in the U.S. Airforce stationed at the Aviano NATO Base in Italy for 4 years and became fluent in the Italian language. He also spent 2 years in Mexico, where he met his wife Tita and became fluent in Spanish, as well.

Larry worked with his father Gene to build a successful cattle business on the Black T4 Ranch. Larry spent most of his years as a successful entrepreneur creating an aerial photography business, known as Horizon Aerial Photos Inc.

He was a devoted member of Fellowship Baptist Church. 

 

Larry is survived by:

One son, Shane Black and his wife Ali of Arvada, Colorado

Two daughters, Brandy Box and her husband Robert of Dallas, Texas

Lara Black and her husband Sys, of White Rock, New Mexico

His sister, Jennifer Black of Scottsdale, Arizona

Three nephews, Beaux, Scott and his wife Kara, and Dallas and his wife Natalie.

Grandchildren Brayden, Brynlee, Ryllyn, baby boy Banks due to arrive in February, Vivien and Ryker Grant.  Great Granddaughter Nova Marie.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife Tita, his parents Gene and Mary Black, Brother Kent Black, sisters Eileen Blakemore and her husband Jim, and Deanne Shepherd, and nephew Denton Shepherd. 

 

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 25, 2023, at Hornung Family Funeral Home Chapel in Liberal, Kansas with Pastor David Harris presiding.

 

Burial will follow at Restlawn Cemetery in Liberal, Kansas with Military Honors provided by Lawrence M. Wimmer Post #80.

 

Memorial contributions are suggested to The Fellowship Baptist Church, in care of the Hornung Family Funeral Home 1212 W. 2nd Liberal, KS 67901.
