Mary Florence Brinton

Mary Florence Brinton, died on Thursday, December 11, 2025, in Topeka, Kansas. Born on October 22, 1934, in Columbus, Ohio, Mary dedicated over 30 years of her life to teaching as a middle school teacher in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Liberal, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Brinton, with whom she shared 34 years of marriage, and her siblings: Barbara Knowlton, Harold James Weaver Jr., Jacquelin Diane Smith, and Margaret Rachel Helen Jutkins, parents, The Rev. Canon Harold James and Margaret Weaver.

Mary leaves behind her sister, Janet Ohlemeier, and a large extended family of 25 nieces and nephews, whom she lovingly regarded as her own children.

A Prayer for Mary

We seem to give her back to Thee, Dear Lord, who gavest her to us. Yet as Thou didst not lose her in giving, so we have not lost her by her return. For what is Thine is ours always; and life is eternal and love is immortal: and what we sometimes call death is only a horizon is nothing but the limit of our sight. Lift us up, O God, that we may see further, cleanse our eyes that we may see more clearly, draw us closer to Thyself that we may know ourselves nearer to our beloved who are with Thee, that where they are, and Thou art, we too may be, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

In Celebration of the Resurrection and Thanksgiving for the Life of Mary Florence Brinton, a service will be held at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 521 N Sherman Avenue in Liberal, Kansas, on Monday, December 29, 2025, at 10:30 AM.

Burial will follow at the Liberal Cemetery on Monday, December 29, 2025, at 11:30 AM.

Memorial Contributions may be given to St Andrews Episcopal Church, in Liberal Kansas, Helping Hands Humane Society or to Bob Hope USO in memory of Mary Florence Brinton in care of the Hornung Family Funeral Home, 1212 W. 2nd Street, Liberal, Kansas.
