Nina Faye "Hammer" Patrick

Nina Faye (Hammer) Patrick, a kind, loving, thoughtful person passed away Thursday, February 2, 2012 at her residence.She was 85. Nina was born July 11, 1926 in Ardmore, OK to the late Thomas Marion Hammer and Willie Blanche (Adair) Hammer. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, supporter of the community, and friend. Nina was a graduate of St. Jo High School in St. Jo, TX. Nina married Rolland Jay “Pat” Patrick on October 7, 1944 in Marietta, Love County, Oklahoma.The couple made their first home in Quantico, VA. It was there that Nina joined the ranks of “Rosie the Riveter” during WWII.After the war, Pat and Nina started their family and planned their business partnership. They moved to Liberal, KS in 1957 where they lived and built two successful businesses together. They were supporters of their community donating time and resources to many worthy causes. In addition to being a homemaker, business partner, and friend, she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and P.E.O. Sisterhood. She was a talented musician and songstress and loved to entertain her family.Nina was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Blanche Rosenberg and Viva Jo Burkhart, and her brother Jimmy Lee Hammer. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Pat Patrick, her two daughters Jayn Berry, Mary Jo Feldman, son-in-law Paul Feldman, three granddaughters, Jamie Titus, Gina Rotolo, and Toni Feldman, two great-grandsons, Sean Patrick Titus and Caleb Patrick Edward Feldman as well as one sister, Judy Nehib and two brothers Gerald Wayne Hammer and Dr. Edwin King Hammer and numerous nieces and nephews.Funeral service will be held 11:00 am Monday, February 6, 2012 at the First Presbyterian Church, 1551 N. Western, Liberal, KS with Dr. Stephen Saville presiding. A gathering and meal will follow for everyone at the church. A private burial will be held later.The casket will remain closed and guest register book will be available to sign from 1 – 5 pm Sunday at Brenneman Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are suggested to Seward County Community College/Area Technical School (SCCC/ATS) Foundation for scholarships in care of Brenneman Funeral Home 1212 W. 2nd Liberal, KS 67901.
