Pablo Robert Maes, 59 died September 3, 2011 at Southwest Medical Center, Liberal. He was born June 17, 1952 in Albuquerque, NM the son of Daniel and Ortencia (Martinez) Maes. He graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1971. He was the director of custodians for USD 480 and had worked for USD 480 for 26 years. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. He enjoyed music, dancing, detailing cars, basketball, the Dallas Cowboys and spending time with his family. On Jan. 13, 1989 he married JoAnna Aquirre in Liberal, KS, at McDermott School. She survives.Other survivors include:5 Sons Gabriel Maes and wife Grisel, Hobbs, NM; Frankie Gomez and wife Misty, Aurora, CO; Josh Gomez and wife Shannon, Aurora, CO; Jose Ramirez and wife Juanita, Albuquerque, NM; Lee Maes, Santa Ana, CA. 3 Daughters Rebecca Calderon and husband Robert, Hobbs, NM; Celiena Ramirez and husband Chris, Phoenix, AZ; Irene Molina and husband Albert, Albuquerque, NM; 1 Brother Tony Orozco, Abuquerque, NM. 3 Sisters Rita Ramirez, Albuquerque, NM; Donna Martinez and husband Nicholas, Albuquerque, NM; Vera Chavez and husband Chris, Albuquerque, NM. 17 Grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 Brothers Pete Martinez and Michael Maes.Vigil and Rosary will be held 7:00 pm, Tuesday, Sept. 6th, at St. Anthony Catholic Church.Funeral Mass will held be 10:00 am, Wednesday, Sept. 7th, 2011 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Liberal, KS with Fr. Jim Dieker presiding. Burial will be held in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Albuquerque, N.M., at a later date.Visitation will be 9:00 am – 4:30 pm Tuesday with the family present to receive friends from 3:30 – 4:30 pm at Brenneman Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Pablo Maes Memorial Fund in care of the Brenneman Funeral Home, 1212 W. 2nd Liberal, KS 67901.
