Reydecel Gonzalez Castillo

Reydecel Gonzalez Castillo, 61, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2024 in Meade County, Kansas.

He was born on May 2, 1963 in Bachiniva, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Rodolfo Gonzalez Dominguez and Elva Castillo. 

On June 9, 1990, he married Sandra Luz Legarda in Mexico. 

Reydecel worked for 23 years in Asphalt Plant maintenance. 

Reydecel always enjoyed being around his family who he loved to brag about to the whole world especially about his grandchildren. He loved taking frequent trips to Mexico to visit his mother, friends and family. His favorite sport was baseball, his team was the KC Royals. He enjoyed patrolling Liberal in his ‘91 pickup truck which he treasured more than anything, or one of the other many many vehicles he owned. He loved fixing everything and helping everyone out with anything they needed, 9 times out of 10 he knew how to fix it. He took his title of being the family handyman very seriously. He always kept everyone accountable with his frequent lectures filled with advice and encouraging words. He liked being the father figure for everyone especially to his younger siblings. He enjoyed going to work and being around his coworkers who became his brothers. What he enjoyed the most was going around making sure everyone was okay all while wearing his handful of t-shirts, more than likely dirty jeans from work, and the same dads shoes that have been around for decades.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Gonzalez of Liberal, Kansas

His mother, Elva Castillo Molinar.

He was preceded in death by his father, Rodolfo Gonzalez Dominguez, brother Martin Heralio Gonzalez, and 2 infant sisters and 1 infant brother, all named Socorro Gonzalez.

Visitation will be on Thursday, August 29, 2024 from 9am to 5pm at the Hornung Family Funeral Home, 1212 W 2nd Street, Liberal, Kansas.

Rosary will follow at 7pm at the Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1510 N. Calhoun Ave., Liberal, Kansas.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, August 30, 2024 at 10am, at Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Reverend Augustine Owusu will be celebrating Mass.

Burial to follow at Liberal Cemetery.

Reydecel González Castillo, de 61 años, falleció el miércoles 21 de agosto de 2024 en el condado de Meade, Kansas.

 Nació el 2 de mayo de 1963 en Bachiniva, Chihuahua, México, hijo de Rodolfo González Domínguez y Elva Castillo. 

 El 9 de junio de 1990 se casó con Sandra Luz Legarda en México. 

 Reydecel trabajó durante 23 años en el mantenimiento de Plantas de Asfalto. 

 Reydecel siempre disfrutó de estar cerca de su familia, de quien le encantaba presumir ante todo el mundo, especialmente de sus nietos. Le encantaba viajar frecuentemente a México para visitar a su madre, amigos y familiares. Su deporte favorito era el béisbol, su equipo eran los KC Royals. Le gustaba patrullar Liberal en su camioneta del 91, que atesoraba más que nada, o en uno de los muchos vehículos que poseía. Le encantaba arreglar todo y ayudar a todos en cualquier cosa que necesitaran, 9 de cada 10 veces sabía cómo arreglarlo. Se tomaba muy en serio su título de manitas de la familia. Siempre hizo que todos fueran responsables con sus frecuentes conferencias llenas de consejos y palabras de aliento. Le gustaba ser la figura paterna para todos, especialmente para sus hermanos menores. Le gustaba ir a trabajar y estar con sus compañeros de trabajo, quienes se convirtieron en sus hermanos. Lo que más disfrutaba era asegurarse de que todos estuvieran bien mientras usaba su puñado de camisetas, probablemente jeans sucios del trabajo y los mismos zapatos de papá que han existido durante décadas.

 Le sobrevive su esposa, Sandra González de Liberal, Kansas.

 Le precedieron en la muerte su padre, Rodolfo González Domínguez, su hermano Martín Heralio González, y 2 hermanas pequeñas y 1 hermano pequeño, todos llamados Socorro González.

El velorio será el jueves 29 de agosto de 2024 de 9 am a 5 pm en Hornung Family Funeral Home, 1212 W 2nd Street, Liberal, Kansas.

El Rosario seguirá a las 7 p. m. en la Iglesia Católica San Antonio de Padua, 1510 N. Calhoun Ave., Liberal, Kansas.

La Misa de Cristian Entierro será el viernes 30 de agosto de 2024 a las 10 a.m. en la Iglesia Católica San Antonio de Padua. El Reverendo Augustine Owusu celebrará la Misa.

Seguirá el entierro en el Cementerio Liberal.
