Robert "Bob" Wayne Kessler

Robert “Bob” Wayne Kessler, age 90, died on Monday, December 22, 2025, at Wheatridge Park Center in Liberal, Kansas.

He was born on September 10, 1935, in Chicago, Illinois, to William and Frieda (Becker) Kessler.

Bob received his GED and worked as a mechanic for Panhandle Eastern. He was talented in many aspects to include diesel and auto mechanics and a meticulous painter of autos and homes. He donated many hours of heartfelt labor in the construction of the Assembly of God Church in Liberal, Kansas. He was very generous helping others with his time and resources. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time at their New Mexico cabin in years past and he shared these passions with his family and friends. He secured a heavenly eternity by placing his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of his sins. He encouraged his family and friends to do the same.

He was united in marriage to Zola Carruth on December 14, 1957, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. They were happily married for 64 years. She preceded him in death. He will be greatly missed and remembered by his family and all who were fortunate to meet him.

He is survived by Son, Kevin Kessler and his wife, Colleen of Liberal, Kansas

Two daughters, Karen Small of Liberal, Kansas,

Robin Witzke and her husband, Bill of Holcomb, Kansas,

Nine grandchildren, Tyson Small,

Brittany Ranasinghe and her husband, Kaveen,

Ryan Witzke and his wife, MacKenzie,

Madison Thompson and her husband, Jaron,

Kaden Kessler and his wife, Lindsey,

Courtney Moore and her husband, Dylan,

Cristyn Bowman and her husband, Shane,

Cathryn Kessler, and

Cayleigh Kessler,

Five great grandchildren, Opal Thompson,

Rawlin Kessler,

Liberty Kessler,

Krishantha Ranasinghe,

Arlo Moore and soon to arrive Arabelle Jean Bowman.

He is also survived by many loving extended family members.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Zola Kessler,

Parents, William and Frieda Kessler,

Daughter, Sharon Kessler,

Brother, William Kessler,

Sister, Carol Kent.

Visitation will be 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM, Monday, January 5, 2026, at the Hornung Family Funeral Home, 1212 W 2nd Street, Liberal, Kansas.

Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 AM, Monday, January 5, 2026, at the Hornung Family Funeral Chapel. Ryan Witzke and Dylan Moore will be officiating.

Interment will follow at Liberal Cemetery.
