Terryl Jackson Hollman

Terryl Jackson Hollman, age 83, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2026.

Terryl was born to parents, Elmer H. and Veda J. (Jackson) Hollman at Epworth Hospital in Liberal, Kansas on August 10, 1943. He is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer H. and Veda J. Hollman, and Sister, Jana Jill Morris. Terryl graduated from Hooker High School where he was a member of the National Honor Society and among other activities was a member of the football team and the school band. Terryl was a member of the Turpin Baptist Church.

Upon high school graduation he attended the University of Oklahoma, later transferring to Panhandle State University. Terryl was always interested in the sciences. He studied for a career in Laboratory Science, and was granted membership in Beta Beta Beta, biological honor society at Panhandle. His final year at Panhandle was spent in a clinical internship at the Oklahoma University Medical School where he completed his training in Laboratory Medicine.

In 1967, Terryl married Cheryle D’Arco, they had two children, Dana and Jenna. Terryl served as the Laboratory Manager at hospitals in Waterloo, Iowa, Coldwater, Michigan, and Liberal, Kansas. In 1981, Terryl loaded his household belongings, Dana and Jenna, into a moving truck and moved from Michigan to Liberal where he worked until retirement. In 1983, he married Betty Abel and added her sons, Jason and Nathan to his family.

He is survived by his wife and longtime caregiver (through liver failure and a liver transplant and later Home Hemodialysis), Betty Hollman of Turpin, Oklahoma,

Three sons, Dana Hollman and his wife, Jacy of Tulsa, Oklahoma,

Jason Abel and his wife, Brandi of Spring Hill, Kansas,

Nathan Abel and his wife, Christina of Turpin, Oklahoma,

Daughter, Jenna Shackelford and her husband, Gary of Prague, Oklahoma,

grandsons, Jackson Hollman and Mariah,

Christian Abel and his wife, Nicole,

Malachi Abel, and

Dalton Shackelford,

Granddaughters, MaHaley Reid and her husband, Mason,

Nevaeh Abel,

Piper Abel,

Alyssa Herman,

Great-granddaughter, Anneliese Herman and

Great-grandson, Ryker Reid.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Transplant Center at KU Medical Center in Kansas City or the Fresenius Kidney Care in Liberal, Kansas in care of the Hornung Family Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM, Monday, September 28, 2026, at the Turpin Baptist Church, 601 W. Hill Street, Turpin, Oklahoma.

Funeral will be at 10:30, Monday, September 28, 2026, at Turpin Baptist Church, 601 W. Hill Street, Turpin, Oklahoma. Reverend Dan Cox will be presiding.

A burial will follow at Restlawn Cemetery.
