Warren Kost

Warren Kost, a beloved father, stepfather, and grandfather, passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at the age of 97 in Liberal, Kansas. He lived a full life, marked by hard work, and commitment to his family.

Warren was born on May 28, 1928, to Glen and Mary Irene (Barker) Kost in Clayton, New Mexico. They moved to Arkansas in 1939. Warren graduated from high school in Cane Hill, Arkansas in 1946. He Moved to Liberal, Kansas and started working for Ideal Foods which later became Nash Finch where he worked as a supervisor devoting 50 years of service. Even after retiring, Warren remained active in the workforce, lending his experience to Electric Motor Service for an additional 15 years.

Warren met and married Dorothy Hockett on December 26, 1948, in Clayton, New Mexico. They had five children. They later divorced and he married Joyce Mitchell in Liberal, Kansas. His memory will forever be cherished by the many who loved him, as well as by all who had the privilege of working alongside him.

He is survived by his four sons, Glenn Kost,

Delbert Kost and his wife Diane,

Twins, Jerry Kost and his wife Patsy and

Gerry Kost and his wife, Kay of Hugoton, Kansas,

One daughter, Sherry Newman of Turpin, Oklahoma,

Stepchildren, Frank Laville,

Kim Luna,

8 grandchildren, Brandee Snook and her husband, Troy,

Brandon Newman,

Jeri Talcott and her husband, Clint,

Jena Walla and her husband Chris,

Michelle Ray and her husband, Justin,

Melissa Kost,

Michael Kost, and

Tyson Kost,

10 great grandchildren, Rowdy Snook,

Colten Snook,

Alyssa Anderson,

Ashton Talcott,

Casen Walla,

Quinn Walla,

Sterling Ray,

Stetson Ray,

Drake Kost, and

Cheyenne Kost,

and 2 great great grandchildren, Keyziah Anderson, and

Zimmrye Anderson,

Special friend Marlin Meisenhiemer,

And several Nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Mary Irene Kost,

Wife, Joyce Kost,

Siblings, Ralph Kost,

Glenna Mayer,

Richard Kost,

Leon Kost,

Marvin Kost,

Mary Ann Musgrave,

Infant brother Clyde Delbert,

Stepchildren, Mina Lavielle and

Bonnie Laville.

Graveside Services will be 10:30 AM on Saturday, August 30, 2025,

at Restlawn Cemetery. Reverend Rex Petty will be officiating.
