Zola Marie Kessler

Zola Marie Kessler, age 84, died Friday, September 30, 2022, at her home in Liberal, Kansas.

She was born on October 6, 1937, the daughter of Jack and Della (Drake) Carruth in Ralston, Oklahoma.

Zola graduated high school in 1955 from Blackwell, Oklahoma. On December 14, 1957, she was united in marriage to her loving husband of 64 years in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Together they raised 4 children, Kevin, Karen, Sharon, and Robin. Zola was a homemaker and bookkeeper for Nash Finch until their closing. She was a devoted volunteer at her church and for the Southwest Medical Center Auxiliary. Zola had an extraordinary capacity to love and care for others. She created a lot of joy and provided comfort to many during her lifetime. She was an amazing Godly example to her family and all that knew her. Zola will be truly missed by all the lives she has touched.

Three daughters, Karen Small of Liberal, Kansas,

Sharon Kessler of Fowler, Kansas, and Robin Witzke (Bill) of Holcomb, Kansas

Brother, Elton Carruth (Glenda) of Valley Center, Kansas, and

Sister, Glenda Sue Starnes (Raymond) of Salina, Kansas,

Nine grandchildren, Tyson Small, Brittany Ranasinghe (Kaveen), Ryan Witzke (MacKenzie), Madison Thompson (Jaron), Kaden Kessler (Lindsey), Courtney Moore (Dylan}, Cristyn Kessler, Cathryn Kessler, and Cayleigh Kessler, and

Five great grandchildren, Opal Mae Thompson, Rawlin Wayne Kessler, Liberty Zola Kessler, Krishantha Sahan Ranasinghe, and Arlo Alan Jay Moore.

Preceded in death by

Both parents, Jack and Della (Drake) Carruth,

Five brothers, J.R. Carruth, Lonnie Carruth, Glen Carruth, Everette Carruth, and David Carruth,

Four sisters, Dorothy Mae Carruth, Ella Pearl Carruth, Leona Fowler, and Louise Owens.

Visitation will be from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Thursday, October 6, 2022, at the Hornung Family Funeral Home. The family will be present from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM to receive friends.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM on Friday, October 7, 2022, at the Hornung Family Funeral Home Chapel, 1212 W. 2^nd Street, Liberal, Kansas.
